Broken and Displaced Tombstones . . . were the result of vandalism at Fairview Cemetery, 308 Lafayette Ave. The city, which is responsible to repair the damage, will begin working on the project late this week with special equipment.
Manning an aerial ladder are Council Bluffs firemen, monitoring the progress of the intense fire at the elevator. Firemen from the Bluffs were joined by unites of the Omaha Fire Department in controlling the blaze, which started about 8:30 p.m.
Scenic Overlook . . . The "backbone" which give Backbone State Park its name provides a high vantage point where visitors may survey the rugged beauty of the area. Lake (center) was created by a high dam on the Maquoketa River.
