Standing Guard Again . . . over the Cass County Soldiers Monument in Atlantic are statues of Civil War and Spanish-American War soldiers. The statues were restored after being subjected to five years of vandalism.

Outside of Eight-Cornered House . . . at Atlantic has been altered very little in 95 years but interior has been updated.

This is the Steeple: Only the steeple remains of the First Congregational Church at Atlantic which is being torn down to make way for a parking lot. The church was erected more than 75 years ago.

Construction on the First Assembly of God Church, 700 S. Seventh St., shown in a photo from The Nonpareil archives, was completed in 1955. On Sunday, the church will celebrate its 55th year in Council Bluffs with a mortgage burning and installation…

This Modest Church . . . is again opening its doors to worshipers. The Rev. G.E. Fogelman dismantled a weather-worn sign designating it as a Church of Christ, its former tenants. A new sign will soon identify it as Calvary Assembly.

Arrowhead Park Located Just East of Neola . . . provides a place for close-to-Council Bluffs-but still country outdoor fun. The geese seen near the dock, as well as the fishing here, are the big attraction.
