The Old Carriage House...that faces on Story Street heads the list of prime restoration for 1970. Exterior of the carriage house is much the same as has been for many years. Custodian's apartment is on the second floor.

Inside The Carriage House...custodian Ivan Stillenger looks over the items being restored. When restoration is completed on the building, vehicles of the times will be displayed such as the carriage shown here.

Crews Begin Paving . . . highway approach to a new Missouri River bridge. Highway 75 and 30A at Crescent run across bottom of picture. Highway approach to bridge runs to west.

New Mormon Pioneer Memorial Bridge . . . will be opened to traffic on Dec. 15. The bridge spans the Missouri River between Crescent, Ia., and Florence, Neb.

Official Caravan . . . heads across new Mormon Pioneer Memorial Bridge at opening ceremonies Sunday. Lead car carries Marine officers headed by Maj. Robert Wray of Ft. Omaha.

On Speakers' Platform . . . at bridge dedication are Marvin G. Schmid, Mormon First President J. Reuben Clark Jr., and Gov. William S. Beardsley.

Toll May Still Be Collected . . . at the Mormon Bridge once a new interstate structure is constructed by the states of Iowa and Nebraska within the next three years. Iowa legislators don't relish the idea.

Soon To Be Joined . . . by another two-lane span just north of it is the Mormon Bridge across the Missouri river west of Crescent. Officials hope construction can start this year.

Twin spans of the Mormon Bridge look more alike every day. The structure on the right is new and will carry westbound traffic of Interstate Highway 680 when the bridge is completed next year. Workmen are currently pouring concrete for the new deck…

Spanning The Not-So-Muddy Missouri River . . . is the Mormon Bridge north of Council Bluffs. The toll bridge is to be turned over to the states of Nebraska and Iowa in March. Nebraska will do the maintenance; but both states will foot the bill.

Proposed Diversion Project . . . from Mosquito Creek to Lake Manawa. The dotted line shows the route of the four-foot tube from the diversion structure on the creek to the lake.

Sand Bars . . . add dramatic proof to the current plight of Lake Manawa. Normally, the water would extend past the boardwalk in the foreground.
