Air Photo Shows Status Of Improvements At Lake Manawa
Subject
Local news
Description
Dredged areas of Lake Manawa (1) are easily seen in this air photo, taken from a height of 10,000 feet. Areas designated as No. 2 are those which will be dredged if Council Bluffs raises the balance of its $25,000 pledged for the project. The balance due is $15,000. Silt from the dredged areas will be pumped into the sectional dikes marked No. 3. Section 4 will be the swampy wild-life preserve. The dredge and its pipeline can be seen in the center of the photo. The top of the general lake triangle is the northeast shoreline. "Moth holes" in sections Nos. 2 and 4 are duck blinds constructed by hunters this fall. Sixty-five acres of the lake have already been dredged to a depth of eight to twelve feet. Plans call for dredging 100 additional acres.
