Description
Hard Surfaced Shoulders . . . will mean greater safety for future travelers on the Interstate. The shoulders will be 10 feet wide on the outside edge of the highway, 6 feet wide on the inside dividing strip. Construction involves almost as much work as the main driving surface. Shoulders first receive a layer of packed rock, then a coat of oil and finally a layer of asphalt. This phase is the last step in the project, and now in progress between the Mormon Trail and Missouri Valley.
