Oakland Salon Gets Facelift: First In Renovation Program

Local news

(top) The Main Street Of Oakland . . . will undergo a face-lifting in the near future, through a program started by the Oakland Commercial Club, in cooperation with town merchants and landowners. Facades of some of the downtown buildings have changed little since they were built in the late nineteenth century. The Oakland renovation program project is similar to others being carried out in Southwest Iowa communities.

(bottom) Rex Baller . . . co-chairman of the Oakland renovation project, looks at a photograph on display at Oakland's Citizens State Bank. The photo shows the downtown business district as it appeared in the late 1880s.
