Description

(1) Hall Of Mirrors . . . at Versailles reflects the glory of Seventeenth Century France. This is the way it looked when The Nonpareil-SAS tour visited the famous palace near Paris recently.

(2) Tourists From Iowa . . . look back through the centuries at the ruins of ancient Rome. These are the Roman baths, dating back to the time of the Caesars. Today, opera performances are presented at the site, with seats stretching more than a block from the stage. Scaffolding is part of the stage equipment.

(3) Lining The Steps . . . of the highest ground in Paris, Sacred Heart Church at Montmartre, tour members view the city.

(4) Bicycle Riders . . . pedal down a street in Copenhagen. This picture was made while traffic was comparatively slow. During the rush hours in Denmark, bicycles outnumber automobiles about 4 to 1. They also create a mystery that The Nonpareil-SAS tourists were unable to solve. All the bicycles look alike but their owners never have trouble finding the right machine when they park it.

(5) On A Rhine Cruise . . . Charles Osborn and Mrs. John Eddy, Council Bluffs, get a demonstration in navigation from Fritz Breitbach, captain of the steamer Rheinland. The Nonpareil-SAS tour traveled 160 miles on the Rhine from Wiesbaden to Cologne. The trip took 8 hours.

(6) Proving A Point . . . for the Iowans is Jan Tomasik, manager of the Learmonth Hotel at Edinburgh, Scotland. Scotsmen do wear something under their kilts and Tomasik displays a pair of shorts to settle the argument.
