Description

Secluded in the shaded knoll at the rear of the Mount Loretto novitiate, this grotto is a sanctuary of rustic beauty. It was dedicated Wednesday night at an elaborate May Day celebration. The grotto is constructed of 'honeycombed" tufa stone and is the gift to the novitiate of friends and benefactors. The statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the grotto is the gift of Mrs. Mary Brennan of Lawler in memory of her daughter, Harriet. It is made from Cararra marble from Italy.
