Description

(top) A Giant Banner . . . proclaiming Modale's 100th anniversary celebration is stretched across a street in preparation for hanging by Mrs. Corinne Harker, Mrs. Kath Gilgren, Richard Marshall, Mrs. Shirley Cleaver and Mrs. Beverly Dietering. Celebration activities will include a tractor pull, horseshoe pitching contest and an "ugly girl" competition. Several thousand persons, including Gov. Robert Ray, are expected to attend.

(bottom) Examining . . . one of the signs they painted for Modale's centennial celebration Friday through Sunday are Mrs. Kathy Gilgren and Mrs. Shirley Cleaver. The women spent about two days painting the signs which turned the post office into a pony express office and a beauty salon into "Eva's Curling Iron."
