An aerial view of the Iowa Power and Light Co. plant south of Council Bluffs shows how a current 13-million-dollar construction project is progressing. the right half of the main building, including the second smokestack, is new. Steelwork visible in the foreground will be enclosed partially and hold the boiler unit. Within the new section, a 90,000-kilowatt generator will be housed. It will triple the rated output of the original plant. The switch yard is at the lower left. Tests are scheduled for October and power from the new generator should go into the lines Dec. 1.
