Description
Mayor C.E. Myrland of Onawa snips the ribbon officially opening the Onawa-Sloan segment of Interstate Highway 29. To Mayor Myrland's right is Everett Shockey, Council Bluffs, member of the Iowa Highway Commission who shared the ribbon cutting duties. The opening boosted to 59 the number of miles of IS 29 now open between Council Bluffs and Sioux City. The unfinished leg is the 30-odd miles between Onawa and Missouri Valley. Officials of Missouri Valley, Sloan, Decatur, Neb., and the Bureau of Public Roads also took part in the opening.
