Description
The first shovelful of dirt was a big one as officials Monday turned ground for the 210-unit low rent housing for the elderly project at Fifth Avenue and Sixth Street. The Rev. Alvin Moore of Ft. Dodge, an instigator of the project here; William Knox, chairman of the Low Rent Housing Agency; Congressman William Scherle, R-Iowa; Guy Birth, representative of the Housing and Urban Development office; and Robert Sklare, general contractor and project developer, all helped in the groundbreaking ceremony. Officials said they expect a ribbon cutting ceremony in about a year.
