Description
Council Bluffs Changing Scene--Right in the center of town in 1866 there were lots of horse and wagons, plus ox teams pulling loads down Broadway, one merchant was buying hides and furs for cash. This picture of an earlier time was furnished by DeVere Watson, attorney.
[Description for phot not in files, but appeared in the Nonpareil as the 1954 "Today..." photo:
"Today...nearly 90 years later, about the only thing unchanged is the location, which is the Northeast corner of Main and Broadway. Autos replace the wagons, modern buildings and paving are now in use. But the corners are the same and the angle of Broadway is identical in both the new and old pictures." Photo shows: B&G Hosiery Shops, Clark Drug Co., and Joe Smith.
