Description
The 79-year-old remains of the Ak-Sar-Ben Bridge, blasted into the water last Saturday, were being cut up for scrap Wednesday by workmen for Allied Structured Steel of Hammond, Ind. The 100,000 tons of steel will be sliced into smaller sections for barge transportation downstream. The new Interstate-480 span which replaced the iron span, frames the remains. -- Nonpareil photo by Jack Kennedy.
