Description
Mrs. Earl Warren, wife of California's governor, christens the 10,500-ton Victory ship Council Bluffs Victory, named for the Iowa City. Launched at Wilmington, Calif., it was the last vessel of its kind built by the California Shipbuilding corporation. Standing beside Mrs. Warren are the wife of her eldest son, Mrs. James Warren, who was matron of honor; Mayor W.A. Byers of Council Bluffs; and Gov. Warren. At right the ship slides down the ways.
