Jones of Excelsior Springs, Mo. He sent this picture to The Nonpareil via his son, Don Jones of 2422 Avenue F. David Jones, now 79, was an employee of the station on the northwest corner of Seventh Street and Broadway. He recalled that the gasoline pumps were inside the station and the hose was hauled out through a window to fill vehicles. Built in 1896 on the south shore it doubled as a recreation and dining hall. The platform extending over the water collapsed in 1906 and six people were killed. The entire pavilion burned down 20 years later. This postcard photo taken in 1900 was loaned to The Nonpareil by A. W. Huber of 122 W. Broadway.
