    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[Two weeks ago huge elms lined Bayliss Park along Pearl Street, cutting off the view to the north.  They were 70 feet high and hung over the curb.  Some were considered  dangerous.  After two minor damage claims were filed against the city by people who had bumped into the trees while parking their cars, the Park Board took steps to eliminate them.<br />

    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[The common wall joining the First National Bank and the Beno building on West Broadway has become a $13,000 stumbling block in proposed demolition of the long-vacant Beno, Wickham, and Kresge buildings.  Mayor Tom Hanafan said he would veto a council-approved contract to demolish the buildings if funding cannot be found to stabilize the common wall.  District Court Judge Leo F. Connolly has declared the vacant buildings a safety hazard and ordered the city to correct the problem.]]></dcterms:description>
