A height of 271 feet is needed to enclose surge tanks that prevent water from reservoir tunnels damaging generator turbines. Four 24-foot tunnels, each about 1.25 miles long, bring reservoir water under the dam. One serves the power turbines, the other three permit release of storage water into the Missouri River. In the foreground are concrete baffles, used to de-energize water and prevent bank erosion. ]]></dcterms:description>

Baby was placed in the 190-year-old cradle which can ingeniously be rocked and rolled at the same time.<br />
(bottom) A Blickensderfer . . . typewriter was the dream of every secretary in 1890. Now a typist would consider it quite outdated. But if a secretary would look closer she will notice the little cylinder covered with type characters is very similar to the ball on her electric machine which is used for the same purpose.]]></dcterms:description>
