    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[Unidentified relatives of one of the apartment complex dwellers huddle under the eve of a nearby house with the small bit of clothing they salvaged from the blaze that destroyed the complex.<br />

Firefighters put their weight on hoses at the Elder Court Apartment fire. Tons of water were poured on the flames in and resulted in low or no water pressure to some neighborhoods served by the same water reservoirs. One fireman was hurt when a high-pressure hose got out of control and struck him in the back.<br />

    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[Iowa corn flows into barges at Peavey Company River Terminal for the first time in four years, and is checked by Jerry Swanger, Peavey barge loader, Dick Johnson, division manager, and Clyde Thorkildson, superintendent for Peavey.  Johnson said the local crop looks good with a yield of 100 to 150 bushels per acre.  The anticipated decline of eastern production has brought a favorable market to this area.  The barges, loaded in about four hours, hold nearly 40,000 bushes.  They are headed for New Orleans to be exported.  The Monday loading was the third barge with many more expected before the navigation season ends on Dec. 1.]]></dcterms:description>
