Grading for the $300,000 structure has been started. The store will open late in the spring of 1957 and employ 100 Council Bluffs people.  A.H. Brodkey of Omaha is the contractor. Built in 1896 on the south shore it doubled as a recreation and dining hall.  The platform extending over the water collapsed in 1906 and six people were killed. Main St., to have this picture taken.  The fading old print belongs to Mrs. C.H. Campbell, 1401 Fairmount Ave.  The Longs operated the store over 50 years in Council Bluffs.]]></dcterms:description>

Bain looks over the old park site.  The little train ran over this area.  The high-gabled house, once a concession stand and the rock flower bed are the only remaining landmarks of the old days.  Bain now lives on the lake in the park area.]]></dcterms:description>
