The 5,700-foot long bridge was sold to the Knights of Ak-Sar-Ben by the Omaha and Council Bluffs Street Railway Co. in 1938 for $2,350,000.  Paid for by tolls, the bridge was made free in September of 1947.  It is now maintained by the Iowa Highway Commission.]]></dcterms:description>

It originally was a barn and stable; then was converted into a house.  This photo belongs to W.C. Grote of 519 Harrison St., a son of the builder.  It was taken about 35 years ago.]]></dcterms:description>
