White Wrecking Co., that tumbled the big old Squire House at 600 Third Street Wednesday morning. The &quot;haunted house&quot; got the name after standing vacant for many years prior to 1930. It was later revamped into apartments. The property was recently purchased by the Dodge House Board and Park Board and the land will be converted into a small park.]]></dcterms:description>

Many persons have asked this question as they glanced over the field on the Spetman Brothers Silver Spur Ranch, Route 4.   Closer inspection reveals this is the remnant of a small haystack.  Livestock sculptured this figure wiole feeding on the hay which was stacked over a tree stump on the site of the old Garner No. 2 school.  Some beautiful Iowa farmland is in the background.]]></dcterms:description>

    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[Paving crews for Dugdale Construction Co. of Omaha are pouring concrete paving on Interstate 80 Highway west from Highway 192 to the Spring Street Bridge now being built across the Missouri River. The $2.5 million paving project will be completed well ahead of the bridge and will form an interchange with I-29 at Thirty-Seventh Street. Using a slip-form method, the concrete is being poured over an asphalt base by a machine that does the work of three machines by former methods. More than a mile was paved in one day. Grading on the Nebraska side of the river may be seen to right of concrete truck at left of photo.]]></dcterms:description>

    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[Lead diesel unit of Burlington Railroad&#039;s Nebraska Zephyr came to rest in plowed field after hitting a loaded rock truck at a County Road G crossing southeast of Council Bluffs Saturday afternoon.  The engine jackknifed into the field and was headed toward the train when it stopped.  Front trucks were knocked from under the engine and the cab was extensively damaged.  Two crewmen were injured.  The second diesel was demolished and lies on its side behind the lead unit.  Other baggage cars are shown off the track.  Passenger units that remained on the rails are shown in the background.]]></dcterms:description>
