    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[G.W. Kirn graduated from North Central College; received his Master&#039;s Degree from the University of Chicago; came to Council Bluffs in 1919 as principal of Abraham Lincoln High School; was appointed Superintendent of Schools in 1946. In 1948 he left the school system to join the Northwestern National Insurance Company and was appointed District Manager the following year. Today, his is one of the only two Chartered Life Underwriters in town. A veteran of World War I, serving overseas with the 340th Field Artillery, Gerald is a member of the American Legion, Rotary, and the Masonic Lodge. He is past president of the YMCA and the Boy Scout Council; past Campaign Chairman of the United Fund; and Treasurer of the Salvation Army. Married, and the father of four grown children, Gerald lives with his wife at 740 Lindbergh Drive. His broad administrative experience qualifies him as an exceptional candidate for our City Council.]]></dcterms:description>
