Photograph shows the first IOOF (Independent Order of Odd Fellows) Lodge in Council Bluffs, IA.
Printed on reverse of image: "November 24, 1931 - The second story of the above building on the revers side was occupied as the first Hall or Lodge Room of the Council Bluffs Lodge No. 49 I.O.O.F October 26th, 1853, the exact location being near the southeast corner of Pierce and Stutsman Streets. The Lodge Room was lighted with tallow candles. General Grenville M. Dodge was initiated a member in this lodge room on Christmas Eve - December 24th, 1855. In May 1857, the lodge was removed to Hagg's Hall, Nos. 133 and 134 West Broadway.
