Postcard of the Griffin Wheel Works . From back: "Griffin Wheel Company, the mammoth new industry located in Council Bluffs; manufacturers of chilled iron car wheels. The plant has floor space of 160,000 square feet under one roof, with 43,000 square feet of glass for sidewalls and monitors. Equipped with 20 electric cranes and meter appliances for unloading, shaking out and handling sand. Hydraulically operated old wheel breakers. Elevators and coal conveyers. Electric oven for baking cores. Melting capacity of 250 tons in nine hours, representing 60 wheels. Undoubtedly the best and most modern in the world. Cost $1,370,000."
