This is how the Water Works intake looked that April when the river rose to a level of 30.2 feet, well above the dirt levee. Enough water passed here each minute to supply the city for 42 days. While this station at North Twenty-fifth Street was out of commission, an old intake pipe into the river at Thirty-seventh snagged enough water to provide the city's needs.
