A hotel, one of the finest in the nation, was housed in the three-story brick building. It was patronized largely by railroad workers and travelers. It stood on the corner of Main St. and First Ave. in what was known as the Shugart-Beno block. Other offices in the building were Swan and Walker Real Estate, The Council Bluffs Insurance Co., Western Iowa College and Parks and Son.
