The buffaloes and the park elks were forced to stand on high ground for nearly 36 hours in the stream which was moving at about 2-1/2 miles per hour until rescue operations could be completed. The baby buffalo and baby elk, Sally, are now safe and being kept in a barn at the east edge of Hancock until the waters from the river recede.
