    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[To handle the increasing volume of piggy-back freight, Union Pacific Railroad has opened an intermodal freight terminal in Omaha, according to W. J. Fox, UP vice president of operations. The terminal, located on the old Union Station passenger yard, has two parallel tracks with a capacity of 32 cars, and allows quick pick-up and set-out by train crews. Trailers are loaded and unloaded circus-style, with a portable ramp, and especially built tractor for power.]]></dcterms:description>

    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[Work on the Interstate 80 bridge at Spring Street is now centered near the Nebraska end, with less than 400 feet of deck to be paved.  This picture shows the section of the bridge between a paving machine and the Nebraska abutment, which is partially decked.  Other work to be done includes some curb and median, small sections of expansion joints and the usual cleanup, to complete the 2, 4362-foot span.<br />
Work started on the decking March 1 and should be completed by Nov. 1, Supt. Harold Tompkins said.  Nebraska in the meantime is working on the paving that will connect the bridge and existing route I-80.]]></dcterms:description>

Two-thirds of the grading work was completed before winter weather halted that phase. Work on the I-80 overpass at its intersection with present Highway 6 east of Council Bluffs is shown here. The large concrete box culvert will be covered with many cubic yards of dirt to support the bridge approach. Pillars on either side of Highway 6 are visible in the background with the high grade forming a backdrop. The culvert was poured in a deeply eroded area which carried water from the hills to Mosquito Creek to the west.]]></dcterms:description>

Motorists traveling on I-80N (from Loveland to this interchange) will make a right turn beyond these bridges.
