    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[Passing Council Bluffs, the USS Hazard made its way up the Missouri River Friday afternoon, headed for its berth at NP Dodge Memorial Park North of Omaha. The Hazard was in the tow of Sioux City and New Orleans tugs to Omaha, escorted by several Corps of Engineers boats and several private crafts. All along the route many curious persons lined the shore to witness the Hazard&#039;s journey. These persons watched from the bank near the Peavy river docks.]]></dcterms:description>

    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[Council Bluffs Changing Scene--The Kursal at Lake Manawa in 1904 was a popular spot about the turn of the century.  it was reached only by boat on the south shore of the lake, and it offered bathing, eating and entertainment.  About 1907 there was a partial collapse, followed by the tornado of 1913 that finished off the building built over the lake on piling.  This picture is from an old postcard from the collection of Art Rogers, 130 Park Ave.]]></dcterms:description>
