About 1907 there was a partial collapse, followed by the tornado of 1913 that finished off the building built over the lake on piling. It was on the southeast corner of Stutsman and Pierce Streets.  The date of the photo is not known, but it is from the files the Free Public Library. <br />
[The circular on the front door appears to be an advertisement for Purdy Celebrated Cottage Bitters, which was first formulated in the mid-1860s, so photo is probably ca 1867; a similar ad appeared in the Nonpareil in 1867]]]></dcterms:description>
